What are the requirements for becoming a Stockphoto.com Contributor

You must be at least 18 years old and the sole owner of every file you upload for sale.

2. Add photos

How do I upload my portfolio?

Just organise your photos in your Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Photos or Microsoft OneDrive folder. Login to upload.stockphoto.com then share read-only access for that folder. Easy! No waiting for uploads and truncated or broken files.

Why can’t I just upload my photos instead of sharing read-only access to my cloud drive?

We no longer accept FTP or web uploads. Instead, you can easily and securely manage your content by sharing read-only access to your cloud drive. This way, your portfolio becomes available to our customers much faster than manual uploads. The good news is that your cloud storage is protected by the likes of Google, Microsoft, or Dropbox, rather than a third party. Stockphoto.com will only have read-only access to the folders you select, giving you full control over how you share your content. And the best part? You can revoke our read-only access whenever you like, whether through your Stockphoto.com account or directly via your cloud storage provider (Google, Microsoft, or Dropbox), without the need to wait for Support or Help Desk assistance. It’s all about making things easier for you!

Am I allowed to sell my content elsewhere?

Yes, you are free to upload and sell your content elsewhere. We do not require content to be exclusive to Stockphoto.com only.

What kind of content can I upload?

You can sell original photographs, video clips and illustrations online as a Stockphoto.com Contributor. Our customers are looking for diverse, high-quality content in all subject areas, including, videos, drone footage, technology, medical, people, work, lifestyle, business, and much more.

Can I change my mind?

Sure! You are in control of your own portfolio always. Add or remove as many images as often as you like! Remember, the more great content in your portfolio, the better the chance of earning.

How long before my photos are ready for sale?

After you’ve connected your Dropbox/Google Drive or Photos folder, we immediately review your portfolio for ownership, fraud and potential copyright issues. This usually takes no longer than an hour and then your photos are ready for sale and searchable by customers.

What are the size requirements for photos?

Photos should be in JPEG format and no larger than 3GB.

Minimum size = 720 x 960px, 5kb
Maximum size = 9000 x 9000px, 3GB
Minimum resolution = 4 megapixel

Do I need to include model or location releases?

No, you don’t. In the past, model and property releases were required if your content had recognizable people, places or logos. However, under our new Marketplace Agreement the Customer accepts all risk and responsibility for their use of all downloaded content from the Stockphoto.com library.

Is there a limit to how much I can upload?

No, we don’t have any limits to how much you can upload or by when.

How do I delete content I’ve uploaded?

How to remove specific photo(s) - Just login to your Dropbox/Google Drive or Photos/OneDrive account and either delete or move the photo(s) from the folder you’ve shared with Stockphoto.com. The system will pickup the removal and update the Search and stats accordingly.
How to remove all photos in a folder - Just login to your Dropbox/Google Drive or Photos/OneDrive account and either delete or move all the photos from the folder you’ve shared with Stockphoto.com OR login to upload.stockphoto.com and click on the red minus (-) folder icon. This will disconnect our access to that folder and remove our access to any photos inside it.
How to remove all photos - Login to upload.stockphoto.com and click on the red DISCONNECT button. This will disconnect our access to that cloud storage account and all folders within thus removing our access to any photos you’ve stored in that account.
HEADS UP: If you cancel access to any of these folders then all photos in that folder (and their related all-time stats) will be removed. If you cancel access to the cloud storage account then all photos in that account (and their related all-time stats) will be removed.

Can I upload photos taken on my phone?

We’re happy to accept photos taken with any kind of camera, whether it’s a DSLR camera or your trusty mobile phone. You’re welcome to upload your mobile photography as long as it meets our guidelines.

What are the requirements for uploading photos?

You should only upload content that you own the copyright to OR that you have created yourself
Don’t upload duplicates or near duplicates of photos you’ve already uploaded
Don’t upload content that is offensive or contain violence, gore or nudity
Don’t upload content with watermarks, logos or branding
Don’t upload content with borders

How can I add or edit tags to my uploads?

Login to upload.stockphoto.com
Click on the ‘My Photos’ link in the left-hand menu
Click on a photo
TO DELETE A KEYWORD: Just click on the ‘X’
TO ADD A KEYWORD: Just click on the ‘+’ and type in the keyword you’d like to add. Click ‘Save’ and you’ve added your specified keyword.

4. Customer downloads

Will I still be the owner of my content even when a customer purchases it?

Yes, you will always be the copyright owner of your own creations. The customer is only purchasing the rights to use what you’ve created. You’re selling them a usage license NOT the ownership. You’ll always own the copyright. When a customer wants to use your content, they purchase a license that gives them legal permission to use it in their projects. it could show up on a billboard, a book cover, in a magazine article, blog post, or on a website—almost anywhere.

What sort of license is being sold to customers?

Customers purchase a Royalty-free license to use your content. It allows them to use your content for an unlimited amount of time in as many projects as they like, for a one-time fee.

How do the stats work?

After your portfolio has been uploaded and you’ve added keywords, it will start showing up on result pages when our customers perform keyword searches. You’ll then notice an increase in the number of views and downloads your portfolio attracts. Views refer to how often your photos are displayed in search results and through our API partners. Downloads indicate the number of times your photos or videos have been purchased by our customers.

What is the Leaderboard?

The Leaderboard displays contributors who have garnered the highest number of lifetime views.

How do I get more views and downloads?

Add more great content as you grow your portfolio and make sure you add relevant keywords to your content so customers can find them easily.

5. Earn $

How much will I get paid?

Every time a customer licenses your content, we pay you a royalty. To license your content, a customer would purchase a subscription before downloading. Fifty percent (50%) of all subscription revenue gets distributed to the Contributors on a per unique download basis. The more subscriptions we sell, the greater the amount available for sharing with Contributors. The more downloads of your content, the more you get paid.

When do I get paid?

Each month we will publish a detailed statement of licenses granted in the previous month showing the royalties that are due to you. Those royalties are then paid the month after you receive the statement. So, for example, any licenses sold during January are reported on February 15 and paid on March 15 (subject to a standard minimum payout balance of $20).
